Student Families Receive Fresh Produce from Westwood Garden

Alexandra KincaidNews

Before the governor closed schools to students in March, Westwood Elementary students planted lettuce in the school garden.

The garden has been a collaborative effort among several teachers and a Wright State University professor. While students have been out, Westwood staff have watered, weeded and cared for the garden. Educational videos about the garden were also created and shared with students as a part of their online learning.

On harvest day, the lettuce was bagged and distributed to Westwood families who visited the school for food pickup. Twenty families got to enjoy the fresh produce that came from the Westwood Garden.
