The Dayton Public School District’s Be Present for a Better Future attendance campaign celebrates and rewards students who have good and improved attendance – but our teachers and staff are in on the fun too!

Three Dayton Public Schools teachers were surprised at the end of August with Cincinnati Reds gift baskets for having perfect attendance so far this school year. Each basket contained six tickets to a Reds game, autographed memorabilia, baseball cards, stickers and more. 

The winning teachers – Mr. Matthew Shomper from Belmont High School, Ms. Stephanie Leonhardt from River’s Edge Montessori, and Mrs. Fitzgerald Busch from Wogaman Middle School – were selected randomly from all of those teachers who had not missed a day of school so far this year.

“We want those teachers who set a good example for our students by having perfect attendance to be recognized,” said Superintendent Elizabeth Lolli. “The success of our attendance campaign will involve both students and staff getting to school on time every day.”

The attendance campaign urges students to “Strive for Less than 5” absences this school year. Both students and staff can expect continued surprises throughout the year to celebrate their attendance achievements.
