For Immediate Release

May 16 deadline for grants up to $500

After a successful fundraising solicitation from the staff of Dayton Public Schools during their Annual Season of Giving, the Dayton Public Schools Foundation will offer a third round of grants to all DPS teachers.
“We appreciate the generosity of the DPS staff and their faith in our ability to reinvest their donations directly into the classroom. It’s our wish that Dayton Public Schools teachers will receive as many grants of up to $500 as we can afford in order to make learning more relevant for their students,” Foundation President and former Dayton Board of Education member Nancy Nerny said. “The DPS Foundation is happy to announce our third round of grants, so teachers can plan learning experiences for the 2017-18 school year,” Nerny added. “It’s our wish that these hard-working teachers think outside the box to create successful examples of innovative instruction that can be mimicked by others, thus growing our own.”
The competitive grants are being awarded by the recently formed DPS Foundation to teachers who create innovative learning experiences that connect students to the district’s curriculum and to their lives outside the classroom.
The deadline for applications, available on the DPS website, is May 16. Donations can be made online or by mail to The Dayton Foundation, in care of the DPS Foundation, 40 N. Main St., Dayton, OH, 45423. For more information, contact Nancy Nerny, (937) 542-3330 or nnerny@woh.rr.com.
